Chris Crowder Captures POWRi RMLS Season Finale Victory at El Paso County Raceway

Belleville, IL. (09/28/2020) Concluding the 2020 racing season in style the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints would take to the quick lap times of El Paso County Raceway, in Calhan Colorado, on Saturday, September 26th with open-wheel journey-man Chris Crowder earning his second feature win in the series this year.

Logging in a great field of nineteen POWRi RMLS drivers into the pits. a warm and fall Colorado evening would also greet competitors to a smooth-slick track ready to contain these lightning sprinters. El Paso County Raceway was primmed and pristine for the final event of the series season with Andy Flood, Dakota Dillin, and Johnny Boos gaining the early wins in heat racing action.

Bringing the field to green for the final feature of the season would see #31 Steve Becker and #21b BJ Sauer fight from the front-row into the first pair of corners as outstanding racing ensued behind the leaders. Becker would appear to have the lightning sprint to beat in the evening until #26 Chris Crowder would make a break for the front and take the lead.

Crowder, fresh from competing bi-weekly in the POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints where he currently leads the points, would be on a mission in his home state leading the remaining revolutions. With his fourth POWRi RMLS series feature victory Crowder now moves into the second position in career wins behind Johnny Boos, with thirteen, in the two-year POWRi Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprint League history.

Definite series frontrunner #24b Johnny Boos would be in the mix yet again for a feature win, driving from starting eighth to finishing second with pole-sitter Becker placing third. Sauer and Blair Cooper #32 would swap running spots several times with Sauer edging Cooper late to place fourth with Cooper rounding out the top five finishers.

Persistent and resilient to race in 2020 with all the Covid-19 closures and set-backs, the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints would ultimately be able to run sixteen race events at four separate “Centennial State” tracks with seven different feature winners. It was another stellar season with great racing and great friendships, stay tuned to websites and social media platforms as the 2021 season planning has already started.
