KREISEL SEALS WEEKEND SWEEP WITH FARMINGTON WIN

KREISEL SEALS WEEKEND SWEEP WITH FARMINGTON WIN

FARMINGTON, MO. (July 27, 2019) – Electing to roll the bottom on a lap 15 restart, Riley Kreisel found the sweet spot around the bottom of St. Francois County Raceway and took the lead away from Mitch Wissmiller just past halfway. Going the distance from there, Kreisel landed his third WAR Sprints win of the year and sixth of his career while donning a special No. 00 for Grady Chandler.

Bringing the field to the green flag, Anthony Nicholson of Bartlett, Tenn. and Patrick Budde of Bartelso, Ill. shared the front row of the 25-lapper. Nicholson, a recent winner at Spoon River Speedway in June, shot his No. 16 to the lead on the opening lap, but it was Mitch Wissmiller of Saybrook, Ill. who came rocketing into the lead with a turn one slider to control the second circuit.

While Wissmiller got comfortable in command, Kreisel made his move on Nicholson for the second spot and brought Korey Weyant along with him. Tracking down Wissmiller, Kreisel closed in on the No. 29 machine and ran into lap traffic with his sights set on another victory lane trip.

A pair of stoppages relegated Kreisel’s chances of attacking Wissmiller, but a lap 15 restart changed that all. Mashing the throttle in Wissmiller’s footsteps, Kreisel nailed the restart and chose to cut to the bottom as Wissmiller rode the treacherous cushion. Sticking the bottom, Kreisel slow rolled underneath Wissmiller and cleared him down the backstretch, moving the No. 00 to the point.

Keeping Kreisel at bay in the closing stages, a packed St. Francois County Raceway crowd was on the edge of their seats while Wissmiller hounded the 19-year old defending champion with Weyant in the mix as well. A lap 23 halted the fun and set the stage for a green-white-checkered finish for the second-consecutive year in Farmington.

Nailing all eight corners on the final restart, Riley Kreisel rode unchallenged to the checkered flag as he completed a weekend sweep and earned his sixth-career POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League victory. A meaningful win, Kreisel found his way to victory lane as he donned the No. 00 for Grady Chandler, an Oklahoma racer who was injured in a serious incident on Friday night. Earning an extra $500 from Brian Thompson Roofing for the weekend sweep, Kreisel and crew are donating the entire bonus to the Chandler family.

Rounding out the podium behind Kreisel was Korey Weyant with a second-place finish in the No. 99 and Kory Schudy of Springfield, Mo. in the third spot aboard his No. 28. Closing out the top ten was Mitch Wissmiller in fourth, Anthony Nicholson in fifth, Mitchell Davis in sixth, Jeff Asher in seventh, Slater Helt in eighth, Jack Wagner in ninth and Pete Palazzolo.

Korey Weyant won Hinchman Racewear heat one, Mitch Wissmiller topped Bell Racing HQ heat two and Riley Kreisel claimed Schure Built Suspensions heat three.

The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League will take next weekend off before reconvening for a special Tuesday night appearance at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on August 6 for the “Ultimate Challenge.”
