MISSOURI TRIP TO VALLEY AND LUCAS OIL ON TAP FOR NATIONAL/WEST MIDGETS

MISSOURI TRIP TO VALLEY AND LUCAS OIL ON TAP FOR NATIONAL/WEST MIDGETS

BELLEVILLE, ILL. (May 1, 2019) – After the entire tripleheader of Belle-Clair, I-55, and Jacksonville was washed away last weekend, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League is heading for the “Show-Me State.” The superstars of the National Midgets will join forces with the up-and-coming gassers of the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League for a two-day showdown at Valley Speedway on May 3 and Lucas Oil Speedway on May 4.

Opening the weekend will be a visit to Grain Valley, Missouri’s Valley Speedway, a wide quarter-mile with the capability of hosting some thrilling action high and low. The Friday showing will mark POWRi’s 15th appearance in league history at Valley and the first of three races in 2019.

In the previous 14 events at Valley, only the likes of Brett Anderson (May ’11, May ’12), Darren Hagen (May ’14, May ’15) and Tanner Thorson (May ’16, July ’17) have scored multiple victories. A heap of former winners will look to add their name to that list this weekend, however, as guys like Zach Daum (May ’13), Tyler Thomas (May ’17), Logan Seavey (May ’18), Tucker Klaasmeyer (July ’18) and Jake Neuman (July ’18) all chase their second POWRi win at Valley.

Saturday’s slate leads the POWRi National/West Midgets to “The Diamond of the Dirt Tracks,” Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. A top notch semi-banked 3/8th-mile oval surrounded by a state-of-the-art facility and beautiful scenery, Lucas Oil is always a bucket list trip for fans year-in and year-out.

Through eight previous visits to the Wheatland, Missouri track, the POWRi National / West Midgets have recorded eight different winners. From Shuman, Loyet, Blackhurst, Daum, Hagen, Thorson, Courtney, to Carrick, a repeat winner has yet to arise. The only drivers with a shot at snapping that streak this weekend are California’s Tanner Carrick and three-time POWRi champ, Zach Daum, who are expected to be in attendance.

The point standings for the POWRi National Midgets are due for a shake-up, as last weekend’s rain has left Christopher Bell atop the points ahead of Logan Seavey (-110), Zeb Wise (-220), Tucker Klaasmeyer (-270) and Jerry Coons Jr. (-290).

Andrew Felker, who won Saturday’s show at Port City Raceway, is leading the POWRi West Midgets standings ahead of Trey Marcham (-320), Hank Davis (-670), Christopher Bell (-680), and Grady Chandler (-770).

On Friday, the POWRi National/West Midgets will share the bill at Valley Speedway alongside the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League and the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprint League. Come Saturday, the National/West Midgets and WAR Sprints will again headline at Lucas Oil Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS Warrior Region Sprint Cars also in action.
