Dvergsten and Pederson Continue Winning Ways with POWRi MKLS

Belleville, IL. (06/29/2020) Fresh from a two-day race weekend the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Series continues to heat-up the racing surfaces as the points battle begins to separate those vying for championship glory.

Friday night the POWRi MKLS would make a triumphant return to the Red River Valley Speedway, battling once again at the fast 3/8-mile track. The lightning sprint class has had a couple of great races at the speedway thanks to a smooth racetrack that is wide and offers multiple grooves to race on. Dexter Dvergsten was the winner of heat one followed across the line by Cody Swenson and Jason Berg rounding out the top three spots in the first heat.

The second heat was won by Alan Truscinski followed in by Alex Truscinski and Kelsi Pederson rounding out the top three for heat two. The feature was all Dvergsten as he took the lead going into turn one and pulled away from the field winning by a margin of over six seconds, claiming the victory at the Red River Valley Speedway. Kelsi Pederson continues to show strong performances of late running a solid second place followed to the finish line by Alex & Alan Truscinski finishing third and fourth respectively, with West Fargo's Jason Berg rounding out the top five.

Racing again on Saturday, the Minn-Kota Lighting Sprints headed northwest and returned to Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, ND. It was a scorcher both on and off the track, as the thermostat read in the high-90's, with cars taking to the track dueling for the position. Second-year driver Bryce Haugeberg started the feature on the outside of the front row and at the drop of the green-flag took the lead from pole-sitter Mark Williams along with second-row starter Jason Berg in tow. Sixth place starter Kelsi Pederson sliced thru traffic and was hot on Haugeberg's tail by lap three.

With these two racers up front putting on a great display of close racing, as Haugeberg lead the first fifteen laps before Pederson was able to take the top spot away and claim the victory at the Devils Lake Speedway. Pederson has found a fast setup for her Minn-Kota/NLSA lighting sprint that is working for her at the Devils Lake Speedway finding victory lane once again and maintaining her points lead in both the Minn-Kota Lighting Sprint Series along with the NLSA point lead.

This week the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lighting Sprint series makes its first visit of the year to the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN. Saturday, July 4th MKLS embark on the first trip across state lines to “The Gopher State”. Due to state restrictions, Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints were unable to race at their unofficial home track for the NLSA for multiple scheduled events so far this summer. With several drivers looking forward to racing again at Greenbush Race Park racing action will take center stage as racers from all over gather to compete for the top spot. Pits open at 3 pm as driver’s registration is slotted from 4-6 pm. Hot Laps start at 6:30 pm with racing to follow.
