WINSTON, MO. (May 28, 2019) – After back-to-back rain outs and a postponement, the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints League finally hit the track for their second event of 2019 on Sunday night at I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri.

Following heat race wins from Bobby Layne of Kansas City, Missouri and Jeff Bard of Basehor, Kansas, the feature event was set to roll with Tyler Johnson of Odessa, Missouri and Bobby Layne on the front row.

While Johnson and Layne led the field to the green flag, neither of the front row starters would command the top spot on the opening lap. As third-starter Kyle Lewis of Spring Hill, Kansas rocketed his No. 2 machine by both of them coming out of turn two and assumed the early lead.

Layne would eventually work by Johnson for the second spot and set his sights on Lewis for the lead. Meanwhile, Johnson had his hands full as Kenny Bowers and Jeff Bard approached him to challenge for the final podium spot of third.

As Bowers and Layne fought for the second spot, Kyle Lewis was able to sneak away and go untouched en route to a strong POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints League victory at I-35 Speedway.

Chasing Lewis to the line on Sunday night was Bobby Layne in second, Kenny Bowers in third, Jeff Bard in fourth and Tyler Johnson in fifth. On tap next for the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprint League is a Saturday, June 1 appearance at I-35 Speedway.
