Benson Collects Victory Number 20 at Lincoln Speedway

Benson Collects Victory Number 20 at Lincoln Speedway

Lincoln, IL – Defending three-time POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series Champion Nathan Benson picked up his 20th career victory at Lincoln Speedway after starting outside the front row to Jeremy Camp, also a former champion with the POWRi micros. At the drop of the green flag, Camp took command with Benson in second.

In a caution-less feature event, it took until lap 11, just over the halfway mark, before Benson was able to power past Camp for the lead entering turn one, fully taking command down the back stretch. Benson stretched his lead for the remaining nine laps on his way to victory number four of 2016. Camp followed Benson to the stripe, with Aaron Andruskevitch taking the final podium position. Garrett Duff finished fourth, with Slater Helt rounding out the top five.

“Jeremy squeezed us up in the first corner and got the lead, but I knew we had a better car, so just stuck with it and got the thing freed up as we went on with the shocks,” explained Nathan Benson. “My dad’s out here with me this weekend, so good to get him a win. Obviously across the pit area, we’re thinking about the Clauson family. The racing family is a good family, but it’s still no consolation for what they’re going through.”

“We got a good jump there to start, side-by-side with him,” said Jeremy Camp. “Got the lead and then the car just got tight on exit. Needed a yellow to try to adjust it, but we’ll take it.”

“Follow the leader for 20 laps,” stated Aaron Andruskevitch. “These aren’t really my favorite race tracks. I like them when they get black slick and the drivers come out. It is what it is. I think the three of us were here last time we were here.”
