FELKER FLIES TO ANOTHER PORT CITY TRIUMPH

FELKER FLIES TO ANOTHER PORT CITY TRIUMPH

TULSA, OKLA. (June 22, 2019) – The POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League visited Port City Raceway for their second standalone show this season last night, and for the second time this season it was Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. finding victory lane aboard the Chad Shields Racing, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S.

Opening the 25-lap Executive Concrete / Snatch-It main event with three consecutive failed starts, the green flag finally flew as front row starters Wesley Smith of Nixa, Mo. and Felker swapped the top spot on a handful occasions in just the first circuit.

While Felker pulled away in command, all eyes turned to the thrilling battles behind him as Smith, Blake Edwards, Hank Davis, Noah Gass and Cannon McIntosh were all dueling for position inside the top five.

A caution at the halfway mark gave Blake Edwards a firm shot at challenging Felker for the lead, but Felker proved to be too strong, finessing the cushion around the 1/8th-mile surface and extending his advantage.

When the checkered flag dropped, it was the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League points leader Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. topping his second feature of the season at Port City Raceway in dominating fashion aboard the Chad Shields Racing, Ripper Chassis powered by Fontana No. 44S.

Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Okla. edged out Noah Gass to score a second-place bid, while Gass of Mounds, Okla. concluded his night with a stellar podium finish. Blake Edwards of Claremore, Okla. slipped back to finish in fourth, while Chance Morton of Coweta, Okla. rounded out the top five.

The POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League will reconvene in two weeks’ time with a doubleheader at Airport Raceway in Garden City, Kans. slated for Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6.
