Belleville, IL. (8/23/2021) Returning to the familiar and speedy home-racing surfaces of Barona Speedway, the Lucas Oil POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints would tackle the quick venue without hesitation as Brent Sexton would return to his winning ways by notching his third series victory in the previous two seasons.
Battling on the smooth track of Barona Speedway in early SWLS competition would find Brent Sexton, Grant Sexton, and David Bezio sweep the heat racing wins for the Sextin-Galtin Racing stable as Mike Kotlinski would earn a pole-starting spot for the feature event.
Going green for feature action with the Lucas Oil POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints would find the patriarch of the series Brent Sexton fly to the front from an outside row-one grid. Sexton would not be denied in his victory route as the reigning POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints Summer Shoot-Out Champion Braden Chiaramonte continues his impressive rookie campaign by racing his way to an outstanding runner-up placing.
Racing through the field to earn the hard charger award, Matt Sotomayor would fly around eight other drivers to place third from starting eleventh as previous race winner David Bezio placed fourth. Point leading Grant Sexton continues his consistent streak by rounding out the top-five finishers for the Lucas Oil POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints at Barona Speedway.
