Belleville, IL. (06/22/2021) Father’s Day Weekend at state-of-the-Art Vado Speedway Park would provide exceptional open-wheel excitement as the Lucas Oil POWRi Vado Super Sprints displayed the driving talents of competitors all trying to tame the fantastically prepared racing surface. With a stout field of twenty-one feature starters, the twenty-five-lap main event would see the familiar face of Lorne Wofford emerge triumphantly.
Early racing action would find Rick Ziehl, Royal Jones, and Justin Lasiter all nab heat racing victories with Lasiter earning the top starting spot for the main event. With Lasiter and Robert Herrera leading the pack of hungry competitors to the initial start, third-starting Jesse Baker would appear to be the quick favorite by battling the two front-runners.
With Lasiter, Robert Herrera, and Baker in a terrific trio of racing, seventh-starting Rick Ziehl would grab the lead around the mid-point leading the tight pack of drivers. Justin Lasiter would suffer mechanical issues striking him from the finish after running up-front the majority of laps.
Driving from deep in the field Lorne Wofford would stalk the leading Ziehl for several laps, using precise driving to over-take the front-runner then spreading distance between him and the nearest competitor. Wofford would earn his second-straight feature victory and the eleventh series win over the past five seasons with Ziehl finishing second.
Hard-charging Vance Wofford would find speed in the later stages of the feature event, driving from a nineteenth starting position to finish third as early leader Herrera placed fourth. Wes Wofford would also surpass a fair share of fast competitors by racing from starting eighteenth to rounding out the top-five finishers for the Lucas Oil POWRi Vado Super Sprints.
