Belleville, IL. (06/01/2021) Doubling down for weekend racing excitement, the newly launched POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services would again take to the smooth racing surfaces of the hosting picturesque Vado Speedway Park over Memorial Weekend with Eric Wilkins driving from deep in the field to solidify his first series victory on Sunday, May 30th.
Representing a great entry list for the second-straight night of thirty-two drivers signing in for action, early POWRi DWSS racing would witness Sammy Swindell, Lorne Wofford, Wes Wofford, and Jesse Baker all claim heat victories with Justin Lasiter gaining the semi-feature win.
With a front-row consisting of John Carney II and Jesse Baker leading the pack of hungry POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services to the initial green flag start, Baker would appear to be the driver to watch. Grabbing the lead early Baker would lead several laps until a hard-charging Eric Wilkins came into the picture.
Wilkins, starting fourteenth in the feature would be up on the wheel using precision to pass other competitors on his way to the front. Grabbing the lead using a high side move, Wilkins would not be denied as the Arizona wheelman earned his first feature win of the young series.
Early leader Jesse Baker would hold on to finish second as Vance Wofford finished third. Nick Haygood would also fly towards the front from starting fifteenth to finish fourth with Jett Carney rounding out the Vado Speedway Park top-five finishers for the POWRi DWSS.
