Belleville, IL. (06/1/2021) For the first time in series history the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services would take to the racing surfaces for competition as the picturesque Vado Speedway Park opened its doors for the launching series over Memorial Weekend. Adding yet another accomplishment to his already legendary career, Sammy Swindell would earn the debut feature win for the series on Saturday, May 29th.
With an outstanding list of thirty-four entries, early POWRi DWSS racing action would find Jesse Baker, Josh Grady, Rick Ziehl, Jayme Barnes, and Devon Amos all claim heat victories with Jett Carney gaining the semi-feature win. Pacing the field for the first feature race of the series on the initial start would find Kyle McCutcheon on the pole with Rick Ziehl lined up on the outside.
Finding speed from his fifth-place starting spot, Sammy Swindell would not waste any time on his march to the front of the pack. Grabbing the lead early Swindell would not look back on his way to adding yet another feature win to his historic racing career. Josh Grady would move up from starting fourth to placing in the runner-up position.
McCutcheon and Ziehl would battle fiercely for almost the entire twenty-five lap feature event with McCutcheon gaining a slight advantage to claim third, leaving Ziehl to finish fourth as Lorne Wofford would race from seventh to round out the Vado Speedway Park top-five finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services.
