CMS Next as Fischer Wins POWRi MLS Opener at I-35 Speedway

Belleville. IL. (04/19/2021) Hitting the smooth racing surfaces of their home-racing facility of I-35 Speedway, in Winston Missouri, the Lucas Oil POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints would finally kick off their 2021 season. Delayed from racing last weekend at Sweet Springs, MLS and I-35 would prolong the wait even longer as area rain-showers on Saturday night would subside to outstanding Sunday evening action with Chase Fischer claiming the first series win of 2021 and fourth of Fischer’s career.

After an Intermission witnessing an awards ceremony celebrating the previous year’s POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints championship contenders, heat race winners Mark K. Billings and Tony Layne would lead the field to the first green-flag start of the season with terrific battles for position throughout the feature.
Chase Fischer, of Jefferson City, Missouri, would use patience and persistence to pick off the competition on his way to the front. Capturing the lead by the mid-way point, Fischer would hold the top spot until the final checkers were waved as Chase claimed his fourth feature win within POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprint action in just his past two-season of racing.

Keeping pace with the fast Fischer would find former series champion Bobby Layne racing from a fourth starting spot to finish in the runner-up position ahead of the returning MLS contender Paden Moreland rounding out the podium finishers with the Lucas Oil POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints at I-35 Speedway.
