Royal Jones Earns POWRi Vado 305 Sprint Season Opener

Royal Jones Earns POWRi Vado 305 Sprint Season Opener

Belleville, IL. (03/23/2021) State-of-the-art Vado Speedway Park would kick off the 2021 season on a beautiful March 20th Saturday night, with a five-division program for the eager fans in attendance. Headlined by a hungry group of over eighty competitors descending on the facility for the first time since January 2020, when the track last hosted an event prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, race fans were treated to outstanding racing all night.

The Lucas Oil POWRi Vado 305 Wing Sprint Cars main event would endure several cautions on the opening lap, giving way to great side-by-side action. From a fifth starting position, Royal Jones would take control out front using the bottom-line of Vado Speedway Park and drive off with the lead. With Jones in leading, most spectator’s eyes were fixed on 23rd position starter Wes Wofford, who quickly charged through the field on his way to the front. The racing stayed bunched up as Jones worked his way through lapped traffic leading, with Wofford working into the top ten before the half-way point. Wofford continued his way through the field and appeared in the top five with just under ten laps to go. A late race restart put McCutcheon just behind Jones on the restart, but Jones was up to the task to earn to his first win of 2021. Wofford would impress all by completing an outstanding 23rd to 2nd place run, finishing ahead of Lorne Wofford, Derek DeMartino, and Vance Wofford, who also rallied from the tail after an early race altercation.
