Macon, IL. (08/22/2020) Inheriting the lead late in the race the Mt. Zion, IL. Native gains his first ever POWRi Engler Machine & Tool 600cc Micro win.
On the start of the 20-lap main event at the Mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, IL. Jeremy Camp and Clifton lead the 22-car field to green. Camp took himself to the lead quick and let the field stack up and race behind him. After a few cautions early in the race the top four began to separate themselves from the rest of the field. Camp lead, Clifton in second, Reece Saldana in the third position and the veteran Harley Hollan in fourth.
Over halfway of the 20-lap feature event, Camp extended his lead by over two seconds. As a huge pile up on turn four on lap collected the leader, Tony Clifton was able to inherit the lead and take his No. 23C Micro to Victory for the first time with the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool 600cc Micro Sprint League. Cole Tinsley finishing in the second position, which is a career best finish for him, and Reece Saldana rounded up the top three.
“We caught the lapped cars and I went to slide them, and I caught the rubber and just followed the rubber around to the win.” Stated Jeremy Clifton.
“We had this car hooked up, it might have burned the tires off, but it was hooked up all the way up and down the track” Cole Tinsley
“They were just really good and when you come to POWRi shows you get a lot of competition, the guys in first and second are just really good.” Commented third place finisher, Reece Saldana.
