Trey Gropp Takes Over Rookie of the Year Points Lead

Belleville, IL. (08/19/2020) The Lincoln, Nebraska-native, Trey Gropp is making a valiant effort to capture POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Rookie of the Year honors. Gropp took over the Rookie of the Year points lead last weekend with a two-day race at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway for the Ironman 55.

So far on the year, Gropp has two top three finishes and three top ten with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League. His career best finish with the national midgets is a third-place finish at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO. Gropp has had much success in the Jay Mounce’s MSW #00 this season. With the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League, Gropp found himself in Victory lane once and a handful of Podiums.

Trey Gropp and Emerson Axsom are the two in battle for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League Rookie of the Year title. Axsom has led the Rookie of the Year points all season, but with Gropp’s solid momentum, he has taken over first position. Trey Gropp has accumulated the lead by 20 points with Axsom sitting behind in second. On Season points overall for the championship, Gropp sits in the 8th position, (-1010) behind Jake Nauman.

Trey Gropp will be in attendance this weekend at the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League SPEED Weekend. The three-day show will take place at three different tracks in the state of Illinois. Starting off at Lincoln Speedway on Friday, Macon Speedway on Saturday and rounding out the weekend at Jacksonville Speedway on Sunday, August 21-23.
