Two-Day, Two-State Sweep on Tap for the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints

Two-Day, Two-State Sweep on Tap for the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints

Belleville, IL. (08/17/2020) Suffering the wrath of an unapologetic mother-nature, the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints would not see the racing surface this past Friday in sanctioned competition with the event at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND.

The entire weekend was not a wash-out though as officials would go above and beyond giving drivers a venue to compete in unsanctioned racing on Saturday evening at Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, ND. MKLS series director Jason Berg #100 would earn the feature victory in a hard-fought battle for the top position with Cody Swenson #51. Swenson and Berg would swap the lead on several occasions with Berg gaining the momentum late and picking up the feature win as Swenson finished in a close second place. Lawrence Veralrud #40 rounded out the podium finishers after claiming a heat win in the early competition.

Next weekend is a double dose of speed in the upper-north for the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints. First up on Friday, August 21st is a return trip Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND. Then, Saturday, August 22nd the MKLS will head over to Greenbush, Minnesota to tackle the quarter-mile oval of Greenbush Race Park. Both days the pit gates will open at 3 PM with Hot Laps scheduled for 6:30 PM, racing action to follow.
