Late-Night Heroics Lift Bacon to CornBelt Nationals Victory

Late-Night Heroics Lift Bacon to CornBelt Nationals Victory

Knoxville, IA.(07/12/2020) Night two of the second annual Brandt Agricultural CornBelt Nationals featuring co-sanctioned non-wing sprint car competition with the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League and the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship would not disappoint spectators of iconic Knoxville Raceway with heavily contested battles for nearly every position.

Another great car count of 49 traditional sprinters would test their talents at the sprint car capital of the world and after a multiple hour delay due to rain right before non-wing qualifying drivers would get their chance to shine. With time-trials scrapped due to the delay, overall weekend points were used to set the fields. When the final checkered flags waved it was #69 Brady Bacon standing tall in victory lane celebrating the $20,000 payday after a hard-fought quest to win.

Defending CornBelt Nationals Champion Brady Bacon #69 would lead the 24-car field to the initial start from a pole starting position with Justin Grant #4 on the outside of row one. Driving into the first corners Bacon would grab the advantage. Cruising into the first position Bacon would try to stretch his speed leading by nearly a full second for several laps. Half-way through the thirty-lap feature with Brady flexing his racing muscles the top five would separate themselves from the field.

Going caution-free in the feature “Macho Man” Brady Bacon would emerge victorious leading every lap on his way to the large payday. Justin Grant would maintain a hot pursuit for first the entire feature, only to come up one position shy placing in the runner-up spot. CJ Leary #30 and Chris Windom #4 would have quite the battle for position with Leary earning third and Windom settling for fourth place. Night one winner of the 2020 CornBelt Nationals Tyler Courtney #7BC rounded out the feature’s top five.

Qualifier Race winners: #75 Dustin Clark, #33M Matt Westfall, #12 Robert Ballou, #9k Kevin Thomas Jr.
B-feature winner: #12 Robert Ballou
C-Feature Winner: #4 Braydon Cromwell
Hard Charger: #12 Robert Ballou(+11)
