Courtney Controls Night #1 of the CornBelt Nationals

Knoxville, IA.(07/10/2020) Fifty-three traditional sprint car competitors would converge on the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” for the first night of the second annual Brandt Agricultural CornBelt Nationals held on Friday night. With a clean sweep of leading all twenty-five feature laps, Tyler Courtney would win the evening of co-sanctioned racing with the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League and USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship.

Wyatt Burks #11w and Riley Kreisel #91 would pace the field to the first green flag laps with a great side by side start entering into turn one as Tyler Courtney #7BC would thread the needle surpassing both front-runners go gain the advantage exiting turn two. Courtney and Kreisel would then attempt to spread themselves from the field running first and second with heavily contested action throughout the tight running field.

Last year’s event winner Brady Bacon #69 would mount a run to the front gaining the runner-up position from Kreisel with an outstanding high-side hustle off turn four as Justin Grant #4 would use the same line to take third. A late-race caution would bunch the field back up while Bacon appeared to be gaining on an extremely fast leader in Courtney. With five laps left the green would appear again as Courtney maintained the point in the final laps, Bacon would make a valiant attempt to remain the only CornBelt National feature winner finishing one spot shy in second as Grant rounded out the events podium finishers.

Night #2 of the Brandt Agricultural CornBelt Nationals continues Saturday, July 11 at Knoxville Raceway with Pit’s Entries at 3 pm and General admission gates opening at 5:30 pm. Hot laps are set for 6:45 pm. POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League members will receive show-up points only for competition. All drivers and teams competing in this event that possess a USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car license will be awarded 50 appearance points for night two of the Corn Belt Nationals, which will go toward the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car championship standings.
