I-30 SPEEDWAY SET FOR SATURDAY SHOW WITH POWRi MIDGETS & MICROS

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. (October 15, 2019) – In the penultimate weekend of the 2019 season, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets heads for I-30 Speedway this Saturday, October 19 for their first appearance in league history at the Little Rock, Ark. facility. Co-sanctioned alongside the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midgets, the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micros will also be in action.

Only three races remain this year and all focus remains on the nail-biting battle for the POWRi National Midget League championship. After a wild weekend at SIR and Belle-Clair shook the standings up, Jesse Colwell of Red Bluff, Calif. walked away with a 50-point advantage over Zach Daum. Their battle continues on Saturday night as both drivers face I-30 for the first time in their midget racing careers.

In the POWRi Outlaw Micro League, young Gunner Ramey of Sedalia, Mo. has built a 330-point cushion atop the standings with his Driven Midwest No. 14G. An up-and-down month for Joe B. Miller has proved costly for the Millersville, Mo. native, as he slipped from the top of the charts and faltered leaps behind the teenage Ramey.

With 25 of 28 events completed, Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. has already clinched the 2019 POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League championship. Driving for Chad Shields Racing, Felker guided the MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S to a campaign that included five victories, 14 top-five finishes and 19 top-ten results.

Although the POWRi National Midgets have never faced “Hammer Hill,” the POWRi West Midgets have visited I-30 on three different occasions since 2016. Most recently, Ace McCarthy of Tahlequah, Okla. won his first-career West race at I-30 in September of 2017. A contender on the National Midget tour now, McCarthy will be on hand and chasing a big breakthrough at familiar ground in his Jim Neuman Racing, Two-Eight Drilling No. 28.

In 2016, Steven Shebester of Mustang, Okla. topped the April showing in Little Rock, while Tucker Klaasmeyer drove to his first-career midget victory at I-30 in September over Jason McDougal. That same night, the POWRi Outlaw Micros competed for an extra payday and it was Joe B. Miller beating Steven Shebester and Nathan Benson.

On Saturday at I-30 Speedway, driver registration will be open from 5:00pm to 6:30pm followed by the drivers meeting at 6:45pm with hot laps going green at 7:00pm.
