Zac Taylor Heats up El Paso County Raceway

Fourteen drivers took the challenge on Saturday, September 28th to face a cold and blustery night at the El Paso County Raceway. This was the largest field of the year for the Warrior Sprint Series, with drivers from two states making the trip to take home the paycheck.

Heat races were won by Zac Taylor of Green River, Wyoming and Brett Ream of Colorado Springs, Colorado. But it was Coby Pearce of Golden, Colorado taking the high points honor and he rolled a four for the invert, placing Taylor on the pole and newcomer Todd Plemons from Arvada, Colorado on outside pole for the 20 lap feature event.

Taylor jumped to an early lead with Plemons trailing him but Ream and Pearce were in tight formation following on the hammer-down clay oval. Near the conclusion of the race, Pearce made a daring outside run on Ream only to bicycle his ride in turn four nearly flipping and sliding to a stop.

On the restart Ream snuck around Plemons for 2nd and Jesse Fernandez from Parker, Colorado worked himself into the top four.
