JACKSONVILE DOUBLEHEADER REIGNITES POWRi SEASON THIS WEEKEND

JACKSONVILE DOUBLEHEADER REIGNITES POWRi SEASON THIS WEEKEND

JACKSONVILLE, ILL. (October 1, 2019) – Slated for back-to-back appearances this Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, Jacksonville Speedway is the place to race this weekend as the home stretch of the 2019 campaign begins for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets and the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micros.

As long as Mother Nature cooperates, Saturday’s showing will mark the 40th all-time race at the Jacksonville, Ill. quarter mile for the POWRi National Midgets, tying it with Macon Speedway as the second most-visited track in league history, trailing only Belle-Clair Speedway’s 63 events.

Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif. enters with the hot hand, having won four of the last five appearances at Jacksonville. Victories in June 2018, September 2018, June 2019 and September 2019 have vaulted the 2017 National Midget champion into contention for another record, as he is one away from tying and two away from breaking Bryan Clauson’s mark of five wins as the winningest POWRi Midget driver at the Jacksonville Speedway.

With only seven races remaining, Seavey’s Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports teammate, Jesse Colwell, stands atop the point standings with Zach Daum of Pocahontas, Ill. close on his tail. A native of Red Bluff, Calif., Colwell’s consistent campaign of 24 top ten finishes, 12 top five results and one victory not only have him leading the championship chase, but also has essentially locked himself in as the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

Daum, who ran fifth at Jacksonville earlier this year and owns one previous triumph at J-Ville from June of 2016, comes into the weekend only 170 points behind Colwell. A three-time POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League champion, Daum’s No. 5D has been the top dog in 2013, 2014 and 2016, but to earn a fourth crown, he’ll have to do it come-from-behind fashion this year.

While the POWRi National Midgets will be in action both nights this weekend, the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micros will only run at Jacksonville in Saturday’s program. Aaron Andruskevitch of Riverton, Ill. topped the Micros only appearance of the year at Jacksonville in early September, outlasting Luke Veradi and Riley Goodno.

Young Gunner Ramey of Sedalia, Mo. has capitalized on the recent misfortune of two-time league champion, Joe B. Miller, and stormed off to a 240-point advantage in a championship battle that was once a tooth-and-nail struggle. Only six races remain in the month of October, as either Ramey will ride a wave of consistency to his first-career championship or Miller will recover for the glory of a third title.

On Friday night, the POWRi National Midgets will share the docket along with the MOWA Sprint Cars, 305 Winged Sprints, Pro Late Models, Hornets, and a Kids Mods exhibition. On Saturday, fans can find the POWRi National Midgets and POWRi Outlaw Micros alongside the MOWA Sprint Cars, the Ron Milton Race of Champions, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and a Kids Mods exhibition.

Each night, pill draw is from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, the grandstands will open at 5:00pm, drivers meeting is scheduled for 5:50pm with hot laps set for 6:15pm and racing to follow at 7:00pm. Pit passes are $35 with adult admission at $20, kids 11-18 at $7 and kids 10 & under FREE.

For those unable to attend this thrilling doubleheader, you can watch both nights from Jacksonville Speedway LIVE on Speed Shift TV. Head over to www.speedshifttv.com to purchase your VIP Subscription or a daily package to watch.
