It was a great Birthday Celebration for Darren Gilbert Friday night at Valley Speedway. First older son Dustin won his heat race in POWRi Valley Outlaw Midget Action. And then younger son A.J. took the night cap winning the Midget feature to celebrate Father Darren’s 54th Birthday in style.
For A.J. it was his second feature win of the year in Valley Midget Action giving the young Tonganoxie, Kansas, racer a strangle hold on the season championship with two races remaining in 2019.
In this one Gilbert driving the Nussbaum Consulting/Renner Wraps #2 came back strong after a 5th place heat race finish to win the feature coming from 5th. Teammate Heath Murry would run a career best 2nd place Friday, while Chad Shields returning behind the wheel for the first time since 2018 ran a strong 3rd.
“Smokin” Joe Walker brought home a 4th place result in his second outing for 2019. With 2017 Champ Dustin Gilbert rounding out the top 5.
The POWRi Valley Outlaw Midgets return to action in two weeks on August 30th.
