SATURDAY STOP AT MACON ON TAP FOR NATIONAL MIDGETS

MACON, ILL. (July 22, 2019) – After a four-week hiatus, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League returns to the “Illini State” once more. Set for a Saturday, July 27 stop at the “Mighty” Macon Speedway, the stars and cars of the POWRi National Midgets will be on full display with wheel-to-wheel racing and sliders galore atop the always-thrilling 1/5th-mile joint.

Marking the 39th appearance in league history, POWRi’s storied legacy at Macon dates back to July 20, 2007, when the National Midgets made their first appearance at the Macon, Ill. facility. Over the years, 21 different drivers have found their way to victory lane with the POWRi National Midgets at Macon, with nine competitors claiming multiple scores.

Brad Loyet, who is also the winningest driver in POWRi National Midget League history, owns the record for most victories at Macon Speedway with six triumphs ranging from 2008-2011. Andrew Felker, the 2012 POWRi National Midget champion, has found Macon glory on four occasions, snagging more than half of his seven-career wins at the 1/5th-mile.

The late Bryan Clauson and three-time POWRi National Midget champion, Zach Daum, each won thrice at the “Mighty” Macon facility. The list of drivers to strike twice at Macon include the likes of Brett Anderson, Brad Kuhn, Christopher Bell, Tyler Thomas and Logan Seavey.

Current POWRi National Midget points leader, Jesse Colwell of Red Bluff, Calif. enters with all of the confidence from his first-career victory at Humboldt Speedway on last Sunday. Driving the Keith Kunz, Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, JBL Audio, Bullet/Toyota No. 71, Colwell will encounter Macon Speedway for the first time in his midget career this Saturday.

Trailing Colwell by 100 points, Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. and Zach Daum of Pocahontas, Ill. are locked in a dead heat for the second spot in the point standings. While Daum brings in previous experience from his wins at Macon, Neuman has yet to find the line first at Macon, although he was close with a second-place finish last year.

Tucker Klaasmeyer of Paola, Kans. comes into this week as the most recent winner at Macon, topping a June 30, 2018 appearance. Along with KKM teammate, Tanner Thorson, Klaasmeyer will be chasing his second-career win at Macon on Saturday.

Joining the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets on the docket Saturday at Macon will be the MOWA Sprint Cars, micro sprints, pro late models and pro modifieds. The pits are set to open at 3:00pm with the grandstands opening at 4:00pm followed by hot laps at 6:00pm and racing at 7:00pm.

For those unable to attend, you can watch a LIVE broadcast of the program on Speed Shift TV. VIP Subscribers will have access to the show, while single-day packages are also available for purchase at www.speedshifttv.com.
