SEAVEY ON PACE FOR NEW SINGLE-SEASON WIN RECORD

SEAVEY ON PACE FOR NEW SINGLE-SEASON WIN RECORD

BELLEVILLE, ILL. (June 24, 2019) – With a dominant six-win stretch in the opening nine races of the season, Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif. has put himself and his Keith Kunz Motorsports, Mobil 1, Bullet/Toyota No. 67 on the fast track for the history books.

Although Mother Nature has held a stranglehold on the 2019 campaign with a disheartening ten rain outs, when action did hit the track, it was rare to see Seavey lose. In victories at I-44 Riverside Speedway (March 22-23), Lucas Oil Speedway (May 4), Lake Ozark Speedway (May 26), Fayette County Speedway (June 13), and Jacksonville Speedway (June 14), Seavey has led 136 of a possible 180 feature laps.

With 23 races remaining, Seavey is already tied for the fourth-winningest season in POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League history and is only six wins away from setting a new single-season record.

Christopher Bell of Norman, Okla. owns the record for the time being, as an 11-win performance in 2014 shot the Keith Kunz Motorsports pilot into the POWRi history books. Only competing part-time in 17 events that year, Bell turned in a remarkable campaign as he won 65% of his races (11-of-17) including recorded a whopping 16 top five finishes in 17 starts, and led an unmatched tally of 196 laps.

Behind Bell, three-time POWRi National Midget champion, Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, Mo., totaled eight-victories in his 2008 campaign. Tanner Thorson of Minden, Nev. earned seven victories in 2016, the third-winningest season in POWRi history. Loyet (2009, 2010), Bryan Clauson (2010, 2014), Zach Daum (2013), Bell (2015), Seavey (2017), and Tucker Klaasmeyer (2017) have all laid down six-win seasons.

Seavey will have a shot at equaling Thorson’s seven-win season and inching closer to Bell’s record on this Sunday, June 30, as the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets head for Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Ill. alongside the DIRTcar Summer Nationals.
