GRAIN VALLEY, MO. (May 31, 2019) – He dons the No. 2 aboard his Renner Wraps Machine, he finished 2nd in the point standings last year, and he ran 2nd in two races earlier this season. However, on Friday night at Valley Speedway, A.J. Gilbert of Tonganoxie, Kansas broke through to find that elusive “one,” as he landed his first-career victory with the POWRi Lucas Oil Outlaw Midget League.
Starting sixth in the 20-lap main event, Gilbert immediately charged to the front and found himself commanding the lead by the third circuit. From there, Gilbert checked out and secured his first-career POWRi Lucas Oil Outlaw Midget League win at Grain Valley, Missouri’s Valley Speedway.
Following Gilbert to the checkered flag was Pat Schudy of Springfield, Mo. in second-place, Dustin Gilbert of Tonganoxie, Kans. with a third-place finish, Merril Lamb of Iola, Kans. in the fourth spot, and Chad Frewaldt of Kansas City, Kans. completing the top five.
The POWRi Lucas Oil Outlaw Midget League returns to Valley Speedway on Friday, June 7 alongside the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League.
