McIntosh's Pursuit of POWRi National Midget Crown Begins in Home State

McIntosh's Pursuit of POWRi National Midget Crown Begins in Home State

BELLEVILLE, IL. (March 17, 2019) – Although he’s not listed as an official rookie, there is no doubting the fact that 16-year old Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Oklahoma is one of the nation’s fastest rising young guns with superstar potential. Driving for his family-owned operation, Dave Mac Motorsports, McIntosh has committed to chase to 2019 POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Championship.

His title pursuit will begin next week inside his home state with the sixth annual Turnpike Challenge. A four-night adventure, McIntosh will literally be right at home, competing at three tracks he grew up racing at in the micro sprint ranks. The action kicks off on Thursday, March 21 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK, continues on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23 at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, OK, and concludes on Sunday, March 24 at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, OK.

A champion of the iconic Tulsa Shootout in the Jr. Sprint division back in 2014, McIntosh’s ascension to the forefront of National Midget racing has been quick and sudden, almost overnight. He spent several years in the stout micro sprint ranks of Oklahoma before developing in the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League and now, competing on the national scale.

In 2017, McIntosh debuted with the POWRi West Midgets, competing in 12 features while earning nine top ten finishes, four top five finishes, and his first-career victory at I-44 Riverside Speedway, which led to a fourth-place points finish. He ran 11 events in 2018, finishing sixth in points with a resume that included six top ten finishes, four top five finishes, and a win at Springfield (MO) Raceway.

Heading into next week’s Turnpike Challenge, McIntosh is red hot with back-to-back successes. In January, he made his Chili Bowl Midget Nationals debut, earning a top ten on his preliminary night and making it to the B-Main on Saturday, falling just short of Rookie of the Year honors. Just last week, McIntosh picked up his first-career midget victory in DuQuoin, Illinois.

Piloting the Dave Mac Motorsports, Spike/Toyota No. 08, McIntosh is set to give chase for his first-career national championship on the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League trail. One of the fastest rising young stars in the country, there is no doubt that McIntosh’s presence will add that much more excitement to the 2019 POWRi campaign.

Fans can watch McIntosh’s pursuit of the 2019 POWRi National Midget championship on a LIVE pay-per-view broadcast each night. POWRi Racing has partnered with Speed Shift TV to bring the 2019 season to fans worldwide, beginning with the Turnpike Challenge next week. Head to www.speedshifttv.com to order your viewing pass!
