MOTHER NATURE WASHES OUT WAR WILDCARD DEBUT AT ANGELL PARK PRIOR TO MAIN EVENT

SUN PRAIRIE, WI (August 5, 2018) - The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Wildcard Sprints were just minutes away from firing the feature field during Sunday's debut of the league at Angell Park Speedway, when strong and persistent rain hit the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin facility, forcing officials to unfortunately cancel the highly-anticipated main event.

Before the rain hit, a near full program of four heat races and a semi-feature was conducted with a group of 28 entrants that showed up to the historic 1/3rd-mile. In heat race action, Katlynn Leer won Hinchman Racewear heat one, Mitch Wissmiller took Bell Racing USA heat two, Slater Helt dominated Schure Built Suspension heat three, and Mitchell Davis stole Wilwood Disc Brakes heat four. Wissmiller's fourth-to-first charge slotted him as the LRB, Inc. #HighPointMan on the night, and following his decline of the high point challenge, he redrew a six for the feature inversion.

The rain, however, began falling just as the 22-car field was in staging and set to fire engines and roll out for the 25-lap main event. The race will unfortunately not be made up, so all feature starters received equal payout split amongst the purse, along with starter points.

Up next for the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Wildcard Sprints will be the league's debut in the Hawkeye State on Tuesday night. Making their inaugural visit to the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Tuesday night's slate will feature the WAR Wildcard Sprints alongside the ASCS National Tour as they host the "Ultimate Challenge."
