Carrick’s Career-First Comes at Lucas Oil Speedway

Carrick’s Career-First Comes at Lucas Oil Speedway

Wheatland, MO – A visit to the title-sponsor-owned Lucas Oil Speedway is always eventful, as the track is one of, if not the finest dirt track in the nation. Tonight was no different, as Tanner Carrick took a career-first win with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League, claiming the Open Wheel Showdown finale. Carrick also held off Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports teammate Logan Seavey from completing the weekend sweep, snapping the streak that was held for the previous three racing weekends by various drivers.

Starting outside the front row to Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports teammate Ryan Robinson, Carrick immediately took the top position on lap one and never looked back. At mid-point coming off a restart, Carrick found himself in a three-way battle for the lead with veteran driver Jerry Coons, Jr., as well as teammate Logan Seavey.

But, Carrick’s confidence was never shaken as the driver stayed up top ripping the lip of the sweeping Lucas Oil Speedway. As laps wound down, Carrick found himself navigating lap traffic like a veteran, putting space between himself and the rest of the field.

Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports teammates Logan Seavey and Ryan Robinson rounded out the podium for a Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports podium sweep, while Tucker Klaasmeyer took fourth. Jerry Coons, Jr. finished in fifth.

“I’ve been so close the last couple of weeks,” stated Tanner Carrick. “Keith and Big Al had the car on a rail, I just made mistakes, had wrecks, but tonight I told everyone I was going to win it, and I won it. I can’t thank everyone enough on this team. This feels awesome with many more to come.”

“Those early cautions and that first red really hurt me,” said Logan Seavey. “Surprisingly the top was that good early. I was forced up there, but I was able to get a run and get momentum built up. He just didn’t make any mistakes. Won last night, really wanted to win tonight and get the sweep.”

“I’ve just been so close this season,” commented Ryan Robinson. “I just need to get a win here. They’ve put an awesome car together and ran a lot of good laps. We’re having a good year, we just need a win. We’ve been fast, we’re going to be fast and hopefully get us a win.”
