POWRi Lucas Oil WAR East Set to Wrap up Season With Sprint Mania

POWRi Lucas Oil WAR East Set to Wrap up Season With Sprint Mania

INDIANAPOLIS, In. (September 26, 2017) - The two-day finale event of the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR East Sprint League schedule is set and prepped for this weekend (October 6-7) at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois and it goes by the name of "SPRINT MANIA." The MOWA/IRA Winged Sprint and Open Wheel Modified classes will also be in action both nights to complete the events.

The high-banked 1/4 mile provided stellar side-by-side racing action when WAR East made their first-ever visit to FALS back in June with Korey Weyant inheriting the victory after race-leader Kevin Thomas Jr and second-running Mario Clouser got together on the last lap in turns three and four when Clouser threw a slider to challenge for the win.

Drama and excitement are sure to happen again this coming weekend with the highest WAR Sprint purse ever being paid out on Saturday night. Friday's event is $2,000 to win and $250 to start. Saturday's event is $4,000 to win and $300 to start. See full purse details below.

The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR East Sprint Champion will be crowned Saturday night. Korey Weyant currently leads the WAR East points over Terry Babb by a mere 71 points. Steve Thomas sits third over, Mario Clouser (4), Slater Helt (5), Mitchell Davis (6), Buddy Lowther (7), Tommy Rockwell (8), James Lyerla (9), and Bret Tripplett rounds out the top ten.

"I couldn't be more excited to wrap up what has turned out to be a stunning season for WAR at Fairbury with a couple great promoters who appreciate these racers and treat them very well," said League Director Casey Shuman, "We have been very fortunate this year to see the support from racers all over the midwest, and I really hope to see Sprint Mania become an annual event the racing world looks forward to each October."
