POWRi West Prepares to Head to the Lone Star State

Tulsa, OK (June 22, 2017) As the season heats up, it’s time for the Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League presented by HE & M Saw to head to the great state of Texas for the first time this season. After an exciting night of racing just a few weeks ago at I-44 Riverside Speedway, the officials with POWRi West are looking forward to another great weekend of racing on the Texas dirt.

On Friday, June 30th, the series will roll into Crandall, Texas for a night of racing at RPM Speedway. Last year, POWRi West top contenders Steven Shebester and Grady Chandler put on a show for the fans as they battled back and forth lap after lap, with Shebester finally claiming the win. Both Shebester and Chandler are expected to be back this year and will no doubt be among the favorites. Also expected to join them are young guns Matt Moore and Cannon McIntosh; and micro-racer Alison Slaton will be making her POWRi West Midget League debut. Several other competitors have expressed an interest in the weekend’s events, including local cars with drivers Andrew Deal, Kade Taylor, and Noah Key. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday night.

On Saturday, teams will head over to Greenville for a night of racing at Super Bowl Speedway. Both nights of racing will pay $1,500 to the winner and $150 to start the A-main. Racing will once again start at 8:00 p.m. Saturday night.

Grady Chandler will take a 180-point lead into the Texas weekend over second-place Steven Shebester. Following Shebester is Matt Moore, Wesley Smith, and Cannon McIntosh currently rounds out the top five in Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League points. All of the top five are currently less than 240 points behind the leader, meaning one bad or good night can still have a huge effect on the season’s standings.

In addition to regular payout money, all Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League contingency sponsorships will be handed out as well. This includes all of the following support from our great sponsors:
Smith Titanium Heat Race 1
Saldana Race Products Heat Race 2
Keizer Wheels Heat Race 3
