Las Cruces, NM (June 10, 2017) - Kyle McCutcheon picked up his third POWRi Lucas Oil WAR 305 Sprint League victory Saturday, June 10 at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Lorne Wofford, Wes Wofford, Josh Shipley, and Royal Jones rounded out the top five.
Kyle McCutcheon and Lorne Wofford set the front row. When the green flag dropped, they raced into turn one with McCutcheon looking dominant, but L.Wofford would lead the pack out of turn two with McCutcheon running second. Lapped traffic came into play six laps into the race as L.Wofford continued to lead.
Jones had third on lock down with Jett Carney and Art Quijano battling for fourth behind Jones. Art Quijano would lose power steering ending his evening, Carney would then secure fourth. On lap seven, a caution flew for Tyler Jackson spinning in turn four.
Then on lap nine a caution flew for Spencer Hill who turned over in turn three. At the restart the top groove came along. Lap fifteen of the twenty-five lap main called for heavy lapped traffic. L.Wofford was running the top with McCutcheon trying to get around on the bottom.
With two laps to go, McCutcheon started to close the gap on leader L.Wofford. "The Wild Man" Kyle McCutcheon threw his #5 down low in three and four on the last lap and came out with an outstanding slide job to beat Lorne Wofford at the line and earned the big win.
The POWRI Lucas Oil WAR 305 Sprint League is back in action Saturday, June 17 at High Plains Motor Speedway in Clovis, New Mexico.
