POWRi Lucas Oil West readies for Second Annual Midget Round Up presented by Burtis Motor Company, Inc
Tulsa, OK (May 16, 2017) Last year on Labor Day weekend, TBJ Promotions brought together the Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League presented by HE&M Saw and the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association for the inaugural Midget Round Up at Airport Raceway in Garden City, Kansas. After a weekend of great racing, it was quickly decided that the two would meet up again in 2017; but changing it up to Memorial Day weekend. As the month of May moves forward, in less than two weeks, the best midgets in the West will once again meet up at the racy Airport Speedway.
Last year’s Saturday night winner and current POWRi West points leader, Steven Shebester is planning on making the return trip and is expected to be joined by others such as Grady Chandler, Matt Moore, and Michelle Decker just to name a few. California native, Robert Dalby, will also be joining the mix and making his first ever POWRi West start. A great field of cars is also expected from the RMMRA group, making this a highly-anticipated weekend. The A-mains on both Friday and Saturday nights will pay $2,000 to the winner and both nights will feature completely separate and full shows. Joining the midgets will be the Outlaw non-wing micro sprints, paying $1,000 to the winner each night and the 1200cc Lightning Sprints. paying their standard purse. A fast and fun weekend of open wheel racing is expected on May 27th and 28th.
The weekend will kick off with a pre-race party at JAX Sports Grille in Garden City on Friday night. The front gates will open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday night with racing starting at 7:30.
