WES WOFFORD TOPS 305 WAR SPRINTS
Las Cruces, NM (May 13, 2017) - Wes Wofford picked up his first POWRi Lucas Oil WAR 305 Sprint win of 2017 on Saturday, May 13 at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Lorne Wofford, Kyle McCutcheon, Don Grable, and Rick Ziehl rounded out the top five.
Nineteen 305 machines checked in for battle as it was a dynamite main event. McCutcheon and Royal Jones lead the field to the green flag. W. Wofford who started inside row three drove to the lead on lap one. W. Wofford passed Robert Herrera on the bottom of corner number two, and passed "The Wild Man" McCutcheon on the bottom of turn four.
As W. Wofford took a comfortable lead, an outstanding battle between McCutcheon and L. Wofford took place as they battled it out for second with lapped traffic all over the race track. At the end, McCutcheon chose the top with four lapped cars running the same line, and L. Wofford chose the bottom with zero lapped cars. L. Wofford would secure the runner-up spot.
Grable finished fourth after starting seventeenth, earning him the Hard Charger title. Jones, W. Wofford, and Herrera were heat race winners. McCutcheon scored the dash victory.
The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR 305 Sprints are back in action Friday and Saturday, May 26-27 at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
