Oklahoma City, OK – Frank Flud of Pryor, Oklahoma wired all 20 laps of the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League feature event to claim victory in night two of the Fourth Annual Turnpike Challenge. Flud’s Turnpike Challenge victory was his third career with the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League.
Earning the pole position by virtue of passing points, Flud quickly took to the curb on the high-banked red clay oval and set a blistering pace with Nathan Benson in tow. By lap eight, just slightly before halfway, Shawn Wicker moved past Benson for second. Even as Flud encountered lap traffic, it wasn’t enough to slow down his pace or close the gap for Wicker to challenge for the lead. With laps winding down, Wicker was forced to settle for second with Benson rounding out the top three.
“My guys at the shop, my guys at the trailer, we were fighting this car all night long last night,” explained Frank Flud. “We didn’t give up, that’s our biggest thing, we didn’t give up. We finally found out what the bug was on this new car and then the car was working perfect.”
“The car was amazing, we had it on a rail,” commented Shawn Wicker. “It’s tough for me to finish behind Flud, I’m used to doing it, but it was a good run for us. We started sixth, had a good weekend.”
“We were a lot better in this feature,” said Nathan Benson. We can’t really gauge off Frank Flud too much, he’s just in a league of his own. But I’m really happy with the changes we made. I just got too aggressive in that first feature with the car and just got it way off. This is an awesome facility, hats off to everyone that worked the track from the winds to the sun to the rain, we had an awesome race track almost every time we were out there.”
