Chett Gehrke started in the front row of the POWRi/Illini Division II Midgets and went on claim the checkered flag in a 20-lap race. Cars ran the highside and lowside during the course of the 20-lap event but Gehrke mastered the 1/5-mile. Tyler Vantoll and Adam Taylor tried to keep pace but to no avail as Gehrke cruised to the win. POWRi/Illini Lucas Oil D-II point leader Patrick Bruns had issues in the heat that put him deep in the feature field. Bruns labored to a ninth place finish.
