Sycamore, IL - Aaron Schuck of Joliet, Illinois WINS at Sycamore Speedway in Sycamore IL. With a strong field of drivers Aaron started deep in the field and methodically made his way to the front.
Nineteen POWRi/ILLINI D-II Midgets took the green flag for the feature on a beautiful summer evening at Sycamore Speedway for the POWRI/ ILLINI Midget Series. It was their third visit to the tight little half mile in northern Illinois this year.
The twenty lap feature had pole sitter Brad Greenup take the lead and hold Tyler Vantoll at bay until the halfway point. Greenup, running the bottom, was finally caught and passed by John Heydenreich. Heydenreich held the lead until lap sixteen. Then after some exciting wheel to wheel racing between Heydenreich and Aaron Schuck, the caution came out due to a spin by Tyler Baron. On the restart, Aaron Schuck, in his Merlin Muffler sponsored Boss Chassis midget powered by a Set Racing Chevy Ecotec took the lead and held off Heydenreich and the fast closing Mitchell Davis. Davis set his sights on the leaders and passed Heydenreich on the last lap. Patrick Bruns, series points leader, came in fourth and Brad Greenup held on for fifth.
Heat race winners were Patrick Bruns and John Heydenreich.
