Joe B. Miller Takes 24th Career Victory, Doubles Down at SIR

Joe B. Miller Takes 24th Career Victory, Doubles Down at SIR

Marion, IL– Joe B. Miller of Millersville, Missouri has a clean sweep in 2016 with the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series at Southern Illinois Raceway, taking both appearances of the series at the high-banked 1/8th mile. Miller’s victory is his 24th career, placing him one win behind the all-time leader in the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, Dereck King.

Winning his heat, Miller would start outside row four by virtue of passing points. Pole sitter Kyle Schuett led the field to green next to Slater Helt. Helt would jump out to the early lead as Miller began working his way through the field. Using every inch of the high-banked Southern Illinois Raceway, Miller was already up to fifth by the time of the first caution, seven laps in.

Returning to racing, Miller wasted no time picking off driver after driver until reaching Helt who was quickly approaching lap traffic. Swiftly and cunningly navigating his #51b Speed Shack Performance-powered Hyper Chassis towards the front, Miller took over the lead on lap 21 with nine to go. Slicing and dicing through lap traffic, Miller had to endure a final caution on lap 24.
In a six lap shootout, Miller would go untouched, taking the checkers first followed by Jeremy Camp who started sixth. Joey Wirth finished third after starting 11th, while Kyle Schuett took fourth. Austin Stewart finished fifth after starting seventh.

“The car was on a rail tonight,” Joe B. Miller explained. “I knew I was going to have to be patient there with a lot of laps starting eighth. Had to let the bottom blow off and we took advantage of every yellow and restart that I could. I’ve got to thank everyone that helps, and most importantly, God.”
“Just not quite as quick as Joe B., but we were able to pick a few off there,” said Jeremy Camp. “Not really sure what happened to Slater there at the end, but tough break for him, but I’ll take second. We’ll take second and go get them next week.”

“This is three top-fives in a row and two podiums,” stated Joey Wirth. “We’re kind of getting on a stride here. This is awesome. I kind of slowly crept my way there from eleventh and caught a couple lucky breaks. I’ve got to thank everybody on this team.”
