Micros Head to Belle-Clair and SIR, National Midgets Take Weekend Off

Belleville, IL – With the 35th Annual Pepsi Nationals in the books, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series will take the weekend off, while the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series returns to the high-banked 1/5th mile Belle-Clair Speedway on Friday, July 8th. Previous winners in 2016 at Belle-Clair include Nathan Benson (Season Opener and 4/29), Andrew Peters (Illinois SPEED Week), and most recently, Shelby Bosie (Race Around the Arch). Saturday, July 9th the Speedway Motors Micros will head to Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion, Illinois to tackle the lightning fast, high-banked 1/8th mile. Joe B. Miller took the May 14th show at Southern Illinois Raceway in dominating fashion, obliterating the field.

After the Pepsi Nationals, Tanner Thorson holds a mere 30 point lead over three time POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series champion, Zach Daum. Thorson has six wins so far in 2016, while Daum has a solo victory up to this point. Spencer Bayston holds the third position 180 points behind Daum, with Justin Peck in fourth. Andrew Felker holds fifth.

Heading into Belle-Clair, Nathan Benson holds a 640 point lead over Shelby Bosie for the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series Championship. Jeremy Camp holds third, while Joe B. Miller rides in fourth. Alec Long has the fifth position.
