Farmington, MO – Spencer Bayston of Lebanon, Indiana wired the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series feature event at Saint Francois County Raceway. Piloting a Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports Toyota-powered Bullet, Bayston trounced teammate Tanner Thorson on the opening lap and placed distance between eventual second place finisher, Zach Daum. Daum would never seriously close on Bayston until a caution with two to go.
On the final restart Bayston wasn’t able to pull Daum by very much, which allowed Daum to pull a last lap, last turn move coming off four and wheel the left front tire of the 5D machine up to Bayston’s right rear tire. Tanner Thorson rebounded to finish third after a mistake on the opening lap in turn one. Justin peck took fourth after holding the third position a majority of the race, while Jake Neuman rounded out the top five.
“It feels pretty good for sure,” said Spencer Bayston. “Big Al had me hooked up on the bottom. He had it rolling pretty well and it was really comfortable tonight. I kind of, personally have been in a slump here lately, so it’s a good confidence booster.”
“Second still sucks,” stated Zach Daum. “It is what it is, but we tried. We always try to beat Keith, but when he brings five of them, you can’t beat them all every night. We’ll just keep plugging away at it there and just keep working.”
“I had a car to win,” Tanner Thorson said. “I kind of gave that up. Got into it a little too hard trying to beat my teammate around the top, but congratulations to Spencer, he drove one heck of a race. Congratulations to him, I know he’s been waiting for it and good job to Zach Daum, too.”
