Tulsa, OK | June19 ,2016; On a warm afternoon, 11 drivers made the trip for what would turn out to be a great night of racing at the fast track of Springfield Raceway. The racing surface was superb, and the stands were full of outstanding fans.
After Heat races were won by Blake Edwards and Kinzer Edwards, it would be Blake receiving the nights Integrity Customs High Point Man of the night. During intermission Blake would have a fan roll the dice for him, landing on a 2 and moving Blake to the outside of the pole.
The field would be led to green by an Edwards duo. Kinzer Edwards would jump out to an early lead and Blake, Steven Shebester, Hunter Fisher and Wesley Smith would battle for position. While racing for the second position Fisher and Blake Edwards would make contact off the exit of turn two resulting in night ending damage to both cars. While under caution the 52 of Kinzer Edwards would come to a stop in turn 4 and need assistance re-starting the car.
This would put a hard charging Kory Schudy in the lead.
Back under green Schudy would lead Wesley Smith, Shebester and Grady Chandler. Just as it looked as though Schudy had ran away with a big lead over the field the caution flag would fall for Shebester who came to a stop along the back stretch. While this bunched the field back up, it was also a bit of bad luck for the leader as he had a left rear tire go flat and was sent to the work area, and was done for the night. This made Smith your new race leader. Smith would get a great restart and stay focused and smooth to go on and win his first Lucas Oil POWRi West A-Feature in front of his hometown crowd. Kinzer Edwards would rebound from his early spin to finish second, with Chandler, Fenton, and Bratti rounding out the top 5.
