Belleville, IL. (4/30/26) - The dirt-throwing intensity of the POWRi National and West Midget Leagues returns to action on May 1–2, with championship points on the line and a historic milestone within reach. The Spring Shuffle at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex is set to deliver a defining early-season showdown.
Denney’s Date with Destiny
All eyes are on Galloway, Ohio’s Jacob Denney as the National Midget point leader enters the weekend riding four consecutive POWRi feature wins. Tied with Brad Loyet (2008) and Michael Kofoid (2021), one more victory would put Denney alone atop the record books. Piloting the Keith Kunz Motorsports #67, Denney has been dominant—but the Sweet Springs bullring leaves no room for error.
Adler’s Active Streak Continues
Daniel Adler looks to extend one of the most remarkable streaks in series history, having made at least one feature start in every POWRi National Midget season from 2005 through 2025. A staple of the series, Adler aims to keep the run alive and add to an already impressive résumé.
West Midget Title Fight
Kennedale, Texas standout Kyle Jones leads the POWRi West Midget League standings entering the weekend. Consistency has been key, but Brecken Reese sits just 40 points back after six events, with Trey Marcham close behind as the championship battle tightens heading into Missouri.
The Return of Broc Elliott
One of the weekend’s most anticipated storylines centers on the return of 2024 POWRi West Midget Champion Broc Elliott. Making his first start since a serious non-wing sprint car crash at the Hockett/McMillin Memorial, Elliott’s return marks a meaningful moment for both driver and series.
Rookie of the Year Battle
Mack Leopard leads the Annual Jim Childers Rookie of the Year standings in a deep freshman class. Teammate Drake Edwards remains in contention, with Cullen Hutchison, Drew Sherman, and Hank Soares all within striking distance as the season unfolds.
Winning Momentum
Karter Sarff and Trifecta Motorsports enter the weekend with confidence following a POWRi West Midget League standalone victory in April. The 2023 National Midget Champion will look to build on that momentum at a track where he found success in 2023.
Championship Contender
Kale Drake and RMS Racing continue to show speed and consistency, currently sitting second in National points. With a strong start to the season, Drake remains firmly in the hunt to challenge Denney’s championship run.
Veteran Presence
Two-time West and 2012 National Midget Champion Andrew Felker brings experience and past success into the weekend, including a Sweet Springs victory as recently as 2022.
Gaining National Ground
Ethan Mitchell has been a consistent podium contender and will be aiming to break through for his first win of the season against a stacked field.
West Front-Runners
Shannon McQueen, Michelle Decker, and Branigan Roark headline a strong group of West competitors looking to capitalize on experience and track time to secure solid finishes.
Rising Stars
Young talents Cooper Miller, Colton Robinson, and Caiden Warren continue to make gains, with Sweet Springs offering a prime opportunity to showcase their development on a demanding surface.
First-Time Starters
Chase Howard, of Nesbit, Mississippi, will make his mark against the POWRi National and West Midget fields, while Haidyn Hansen debuts with Joyner Motorsports. The micro sprint standout begins her next chapter against top-tier competition.
