Belleville, IL. (2/11/26) - In a landmark achievement for grassroots and national-level motorsports safety, the POWRi Racing Trackside Safety Program has officially received endorsement from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for its NFPA 610 Training & Certification program, marking a historic milestone for the organization and the industry at large.
Following an intensive training weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska, POWRi Racing became the first, and currently only, motorsports sanctioning body in the United States to earn NFPA endorsement for its NFPA 610-compliant training curriculum. The endorsement validates POWRi’s structured approach to emergency response, fire suppression, and trackside incident management in accordance with nationally recognized safety standards.
“As a national open-wheel racing organization, we recognize the need for track safety personnel to understand all forms of track safety,” stated Ralph Browning, POWRi’s Director of Safety & Trackside Safety. “We adopted NFPA 610 for its comprehensive motorsports safety standards and created the POWRi Racing Trackside Safety NFPA 610 Certification Program to standardize training nationwide. Seeing certified safety teams at venues assures POWRi Racing, drivers, teams, and sponsors of our commitment to safety.”
National Fire Protection Association 610 — Guide for Emergency and Safety Operations at Motorsports Venues — establishes best practices for fire protection, emergency preparedness, and operational coordination at racing facilities. By securing official endorsement of its training and certification program, POWRi elevates its Trackside Safety initiative to a nationally benchmarked level, reinforcing its proactive commitment to competitor, official, and fan safety.
“Receiving NFPA’s endorsement on our NFPA 610 Training & Certification program is a defining moment for POWRi Racing,” said Talin Turner of POWRi. “Safety has always been a priority for our organization, but this elevates our commitment to a nationally recognized standard. To become the first motorsports sanctioning body in the country to achieve this endorsement speaks volumes about the dedication of our team and our belief that proper training and education must lead the way in protecting drivers, crews, officials, and fans.”
The POWRi Trackside Safety Program was developed to provide comprehensive education and hands-on training for safety personnel operating in all disciplines of motorsports. The curriculum focuses on fire behavior, fuel and mechanical hazards, rapid response protocols, vehicle stabilization, driver extrication fundamentals, and coordinated communication between race control and emergency teams. The program is structured to meet or exceed nationally recognized certification standards, reinforcing POWRi’s commitment to leading the industry in professional safety training.
With NFPA endorsement secured and further training initiatives underway, the POWRi Trackside Safety Program stands as a pioneering model in motorsports emergency preparedness — reinforcing the message that excellence on the racetrack begins with excellence in safety.
POWRi Racing is actively scheduling additional NFPA 610 Training & Certification courses and safety workshops as part of its ongoing expansion.
