Belleville, IL. (12/9/25) - Continuing a career defined by progression, polish, and a growing foundation within the POWRi brand, John Barnard has officially secured the 2025 POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprints Rookie of the Year title.
Rising through the POWRi ranks has been anything but accidental, with John Barnard, of Sherman, Illinois, bursting onto the national scene by capturing the 2022 POWRi Outlaw Micro National Championship. Continuing to prove his versatility and upward trajectory, Barnard added a breakthrough POWRi 305 Sprint Car victory at Lucas Oil Speedway, solidifying his status as one of the most dynamic developing drivers in open-wheel racing.
Transitioning into the ultra-competitive full-time 410 Sprint League in 2025, Barnard delivered a mature, methodical season—balancing a rookie learning curve with the poise of a driver far beyond his years. Through consistency, adaptability, and a finely tuned racing IQ, Barnard steadily collected results that kept him atop the rookie standings throughout the campaign, ultimately concluding his debut season sixth in the overall championship chase.
Echoing the significance of Barnard’s achievement and development within the sanctioning body, Talin Turner, Series Director of POWRi, stated,
“John is a perfect example of what POWRi is built for. We’ve watched him grow through multiple divisions, take on new challenges, and continue elevating both his craft and our series. His Rookie of the Year title is well-earned, and his future is extremely bright.”
Working behind a focused, forward-driven team, Barnard showcased his ability to adapt to new tracks, fierce competition, and the raw power that defines the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprints. Whether battling for a season-best pair of top fives or collecting six top tens in his twenty-three starts, Barnard’s year reflected the foundation of a driver intent on shaping a durable future within POWRi’s sprint landscape.
With another milestone achieved and another chapter written, Barnard’s ascent continues to mirror the trajectory of a driver committed to establishing a long-term winning legacy within POWRi Racing.
