PENALTY REPORT: Kreisel Fined & Suspended Following On-Track Incident at Lucas Oil Speedway

PENALTY REPORT: Kreisel Fined & Suspended Following On-Track Incident at Lucas Oil Speedway

Belleville, IL. (9/24/2025) Following on-track retaliation and rule violations, POWRi officials have suspended and fined driver Riley Kreisel after actions that took place on Saturday, September 20, at Lucas Oil Speedway during the Hockett/McMillin Memorial in POWRi WAR Sprint competition.

During green-flag competition in the Wholesale Batteries POWRi WAR/MWRA Challenge Series feature, contact occurred between Landon Simon and Riley Kreisel, after which Kreisel slowed and brought out the caution. As officials attempted to direct the No. 91 off the track and into the work area, Kreisel accelerated and struck the No. 24 of Landon Simon, causing damage to the rear tail tank and bumper. After both cars came to a stop on the backstretch, Kreisel exited his car and attempted to inflict further damage on the No. 24 before POWRi and Lucas Oil Speedway officials intervened and removed him from the scene.

As a result of this violation, Riley Kreisel has been suspended from all POWRi-sanctioned events for six months. The suspension will pause at the conclusion of the 2025 race season and resume at the start of the 2026 season (pending schedules). In addition, Kreisel has been fined $1,000, which must be paid before he is permitted to return to competition. Upon his return, he will be placed on probation for six months at all POWRi-sanctioned events. Event payout from Saturday night has also been withheld by POWRi officials following the incident.

The Series rules on retaliation are as follows:
POWRi Race Procedures, page 7, section a: If a participant engages in retaliation before, during, or after a race, the participant will be disqualified and will receive no points or pay. Additional fines or suspensions may be imposed at the discretion of the Series and/or Competition Director.

Further updates will be made public via POWRi social media channels and online at www.powri.com.

Complete rules and guidelines for all POWRi divisions can be found at www.powri.com/rules. All questions or concerns regarding this matter should be directed to POWRi officials.
