Belleville, IL. (7/4/23) Returning to honor a lasting legacy of area great during the mid-season swing of familiar running grounds, the POWRi Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League will next visit Valley Speedway on Saturday, July 15th for the Annual ‘Bill Lawson Memorial’.
Open Wheel Driver during the 1950-1960s, father of Dan Lawson, and grandfather of Justin Lawson. Bill Lawson served in the Marines during WWII and in the Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic during the Korean War. Competing alongside local and regional Sprint and Midget legends, Lawson maintained an outstanding fan following with a special talent for finding up-and-coming talent. Fittingly, the returning 2022 Lawson Memorial champion is the Dan Lawson-sponsored driver Xavier Doney.
Classes scheduled for competition at Valley Speedway for the Lawson Memorial on Saturday, July 15th include the POWRi Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League, Valley E-Mods, Dirt Demons, B-Modifieds, and Mod-Lites.
Mufflers will be MANDATORY for POWRi WAR Sprint League cars to compete in the Lawson Memorial at Valley Speedway on Saturday, July 15th.
