(5/24/23) Showcasing familiar Show-Me-State factories of speed, the POWRi Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League competitors are readily preparing for the two-day stay near the state’s capital in the Spring Sprint Showdown on Saturday, May 27th at Lake Ozark Speedway followed by a celebration of an industry icon with the Tribute to Jesse at Double X Speedway on Sunday, May 28th.
Setting the standard in the season early, the POWRi WAR championship picture begins to take shape as ‘Gentleman’ Jack Wagner has risen to the top of the leaderboards over the trio of events. Wagner has placed inside the podium in all events in the 2023 season having claimed a heat race victory in the iconic Jesse Hockett Racing, KC Platinum Contracting, Gentleman Jack Designs #77. Winning previously at Lake Ozark Speedway in 2019, can Jack clinch a feature victory over the holiday weekend to extend his overall points lead?
Remaining close in the title pursuit, 2021 Rookie of the Year winner Xavier Doney, with two feature wins to his career credit at Valley Speedway, comes into the weekend runner-up in the standings with three-straight top-five performances. Driving the Doney-Lawson Racing, Motor Haven, Design Source Flooring #74, Xavier continues to climb the ranks among the Midwest’s top open-wheel talents will this weekend solidify his yearly quest for championship glory?
