Belleville, IL. (4/16/23) Offering a fast-paced opening weekend double-header of racing excitement at Aztec Speedway, the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services would show outstanding action aplenty as Jake Bubak would grab both feature victories to jump-start the 2023 racing season.
Kicking off the Aztec Speedway doubleheader opening weekend on Friday night would find Josh Grady and Jesse Baker each notch heat racing wins with John Carney II gaining the pole-starting grid for the feature event.
Going green flag feature racing for the first time in 2023 on Friday would find Carney and Bubak swapping the front of the field for nearly the full twenty-five laps. With laps winding down, Jake Bubak would gain the preferred position to earn his inaugural career DWSS victory with John Carney II placing a solid runner-up showing.
Pacing closely to the leaders, Josh Grady would finish third as Don Grable placed fourth with Rick Ziehl rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series on Night One of the Opening-Weekend Double-Header at Aztec Speedway.
Cruising into the second night of opening weekend racing would witness feature action Saturday find Night-One winner Jake Bubak wheeling his way out front while protecting the lead to notch his second-straight career POWRi DWSS feature victory with once again John Carney II finishing runner-up as Don Grable finalized the final podium placement.
Contending up front for the entire feature, Jesse Baker would finish fourth with Josh Grady rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series and Night Two of the season-beginning weekend double-header at Aztec Speedway.
