(12/11/2022) Returning to the indoor action of Southern Illinois Center, in DuQuoin Illinois, POWRi will nod to the racing legacy of one of the region’s most decorated competitors with the reviving of the Junior Knepper 55 on Saturday, December 17th. Continually growing as a list of who’s-who entered, many recognizable faces will see even more prestige added as the event draws near.
Riding a surge of accomplishments in an extraordinarily successful rookie season with the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series, the young and talented open-wheel journeyman Noah Gass of Mounds Oklahoma joins the fray as all eyes will be watching “The Gass-Monkey” wheel his way around the indoor Southern Illinois Center.
Tying the single season win-count in 2022, Cannon McIntosh, of Bixby Oklahoma, aims to extend his record-breaking year within the POWRi National Midget League competition with a trip to DuQuoin on December 17th. Wheeling the familiar Dave Mac-Dalby Motorsports #08, McIntosh is no stranger to indoor victories having gained feature wins in his home state of Oklahoma in the Chili Bowl Nationals prelim night, can Cannon continue his winning ways at the Southern Illinois Center?

The “Junior Knepper 55”, a 55-lap race honoring the famed car number which adorned Walter Knepper’s storied career, will feature the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League competing on a specially-constructed dirt oval inside the well-known Southern Illinois Center near the DuQuoin Fairgrounds with no other support classes on the racing docket.
