Belleville, IL. (11/18/2022) Returning to the Southern Illinois Center on December 17th will witness POWRi salute the memory of one of the region’s most accomplished car owners with the renewing of the Junior Knepper 55 as another Illinois talent eyes the $5,000 to win top paying prize.
Fresh off winning the inaugural Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota Championship in 2022, the three-time Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League Champion Zach Daum, of Pocahontas Illinois, continues to solidify his racing legacy as one of the top talents in the open-wheel world.
Highlighted by twenty-one career feature victories, the 2007 POWRi National Midget League Rookie of the Year, will enter the Junior Knepper 55 sitting sixth on the all-time win list as well as locked in a tie atop the standings with Brad Loyet for the most career championships at three apiece.
Entering the Junior Knepper 55 in the indoor DuQuoin event will see Zach Daum drive the familiar Harris Racing, Advanced Racing Suspensions, Halsey Machine, Moons Auto Body, Spike Chassis, Fontana Racing Engine #91; Daum aims to add the hardware at the speedy Southern Illinois “mini-magic-mile”.

The “Junior Knepper 55”, a 55-lap race honoring the famed car number which adorned Walter Knepper’s storied career, will feature the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League competing on a specially-constructed dirt oval inside the well-known Southern Illinois Center near the DuQuoin Fairgrounds with no other support classes on the racing docket.
