Belleville, IL. (8/21/22) Offering a fast-paced double-header of racing excitement at Aztec Speedway, the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series presented by MVT Services would once again show outstanding action aplenty as Don Grable and Lorne Wofford would divide feature wins over the racing weekend.
Kicking off the Aztec Speedway doubleheader weekend on Friday night would see Jesse Baker, Don Grable, and Rick Ziehl each notch heat racing wins with Ziehl gaining the pole-starting grid for the feature event.
Going green flag feature racing Friday would find outside front-row starting Don Grable rocket to the front of the field to earn his first career DWSS victory with pole-sitting Rick Ziehl maintaining a solid runner-up showing.
Fourth starting Jesse Baker would finish third as JT Imperial drove from ninth starting to placing fourth with Alex Pettas rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series on Night One of the Weekend Double-Header at Aztec Speedway.
Cruising into the final night of the doubleheader would witness Rick Ziehl, Lorne Wofford, and Vance Wofford each claim heat racing wins with Lorne Wofford earning the high-point award to notch a pole starting spot.
Feature action Saturday would find pole-sitter Lorne Wofford wheel his way out front while protecting the lead to notch his first career POWRi DWSS feature victory with outside front-row starter Jesse Baker finishing runner-up as Rick Ziehl placed in the final podium placement.
Contending up front for the full feature, Vance Wofford would finish fourth with eleventh starting Logan Calderwood rounding out the top five feature finishers for the POWRi Desert Wing Sprint Series and Night Two of the Weekend Double-Header at Aztec Speedway.
